Cambridge Tower A will maximize the hospital’s ability and capacity for lifesaving and complex procedures by 20 percent, or 7,000 additional patients each year!

   Future Outlook

​The University of Kansas Hospital is frequently at full capacity, with overall growth forecasted to increase another 32 percent in the next three years. 

​Over the past five years, the hospital has seen nearly a 30 percent increase in patient volumes, with more than one-quarter of patients coming from outside the region.


The Cambridge Tower A will add:

  • 124 beds
  • 28 intensive care beds
  • 96 acute beds
  • 11 operating rooms
  • 500,000 total square feet
  • 100 physicians on staff
  • 600 healthcare jobs

The Cambridge Tower A will expand access to healthcare in the region and be home to highly specialized surgical services for:

  • Medical oncology
  • Surgical oncology
  • ​Neurology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat)
